Homespun Gallery

The Homespun Gallery opened in 2007 in the beautifully renovated building located next to the General Store on historic Pooley Street. This gallery, owned by Ron and Gail Dunn, hosts the couple's incredible wood works, sculptures and paintings.

Gail moved to Wells one year ago with her husband Ron to open the Homespun Gallery on Pooley Street. She works in clay to create sculptural stylized forms as well as burnished smoked pottery. Raku, and Tree Spirits but still has time to explore all mediums in painting and drawing.

Ron is an internationally recognized wood turner who is represented by galleries in B.C. and Alberta. Ron has won awards in every competition he entered. His creations are mainly from local wood which he enjoys collecting. After logging for many years he says that creating beautiful objects from wood is payback.

Island Mountain Arts Public Gallery

Louis Blanc Photographic Gallery

Louis Blanc was a photographer in Barkerville from 1868 to 1871. He took photos of miners and their claims that would be sent home to loved ones in distant lands. Today we carry on the tradition of photographing visitors to Barkerville. You will be dressed in Victorian style costume and photographed "In the Highest Style of the Art". Your photo will be printed in old fashioned sepia tone and provided to you within minutes. Be sure to check out the log building across from the House Hotel where Louis Blanc is situated. It is one of the oldest buildings in Barkerville and is believed to have survived the fire of 1868. It was once a tea house and a post office.

McMahon's Confectionery

McMahon's Confectionery, once known as the Red Front Cigar Store, was located in Barkerville Historic Town in the 1930's, and was part of the town's vital merchant community, selling a diverse selection of treats and sundries.

Today, in the recreated 1930's style confectionery store, visitors can purchase a wide variety of candy, fudge, tobacco, ice cream, soda pop and specialty products that were available to the towns people of 1930's Barkerville. 

McPherson's Watchmaker's Shop

Stop by this old-fashioned General Store, which carries a selection of groceries, gift ware, clothing, hardware and a variety of Arts and Crafts created by local artisans. They do offer modern conveniences, such as high speed Internet, with a variety of office services available for travelers needs (faxing, photocopying, etc...). Besides being a source of information and display for local artisans in the Wells, Barkerville, Bowron Lakes area, the Wells Visitor Information Centre also sells local merchandise.
